Triptorelin Dosing Protocol: GnRH Agonist Guide

Also known as: Trelstar, Decapeptyl, GnRH agonist

What is a Peptide?

A short chain of amino acids (2-50) linked by peptide bonds. Smaller than proteins. Your body produces thousands of peptides naturally as signaling molecules that regulate everything from appetite to healing. Therapeutic peptides mimic or enhance these natural signals.

Research reference only. Triptorelin is not FDA approved for human use (unless specified above). This information does not constitute medical advice.

Overview

Triptorelin is a GnRH agonist used in the treatment of prostate cancer, endometriosis, and precocious puberty. It initially stimulates then suppresses gonadotropin release through receptor downregulation.

Mechanisms of Action

  • Initial stimulation then downregulation of GnRH receptors
  • Suppresses LH and FSH secretion
  • Reduces testosterone to castrate levels (in men)
  • Suppresses ovarian function (in women)
